German Chancellor Olaf Scholz fired his Finance Minister Christian Lindner after weeks of wrangling over the government's future economic direction, Reuters reported, citing two sources.
Bild newspaper reported earlier today that Lindner had proposed early elections as a way out of the impasse, but the proposal was rejected by Scholz.
Scholz's office invited journalists to give a briefing at 21:15 local time (22:15 Bulgarian).
