A 43-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday (5), for raping his 12-year-old niece. The crime occurred in July 2021, in the rural area of Benjamin Constant, in the interior of Amazonas.
According to representatives Mayara Magna, from the 51st DIP, during the incident, the suspect entered the victim's residence when he was about to go to school. The child was still trying to scream, but he covered her mouth with a cloth and sexually assaulted her.
“Soon after the incident, the suspect fled and the victim went to the house of a relative living nearby, who took him to the police station to report the crime. The man has been on the run since July 2021 and was arrested in a community in the municipality,” the delegation said.
According to the delegation, the author chased the child whenever he was alone at home and coaxed him, even offering him money. On one occasion, the victim's grandfather even avoided one of the abusers when he saw the man abusing his grandson.
The man will be charged with rape of a vulnerable person and will stand trial.
