“This is not about erasing the past”

Linkin Park played their first show reunion tour last night (September 11) – check out fan footage, the full setlist and more below.

The new lineup of the band took to the stage at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California to perform a 26-track set, including classic hits like “Crawling,” “One Step Closer,” “Numb” and “What I've Done.”

This happened after the group announced their return during a livestreamed event Last week. The event saw Mike Shinoda and the company debut with Emily Armstrong (formerly of Dead Sara) on vocals, and announce a new album called “From Zero” (pre-order/pre-save here).

Speaking to the crowd yesterday, Shinoda explained that this version of Linkin Park “wasn't about erasing the past” after controversy surrounding Armstrong, who replaced him late Chester Bennington.

He said playing to new fans who hadn't seen them live before was “one of the reasons we came back.”

“We're really excited to be back here. It's not about erasing the past, it's about starting a new chapter in the future and coming out here for each and every one of you,” Shinoda continued.

“We love playing for you guys, we love writing this music – we're so excited about the new record. So thank you so much – we had an incredible night with you. Hopefully we'll see you soon.”

To introduce the release, Armstrong demanded “justice for fucking Hunting Party,” a clear reference to the material from that LP that was missing from This year's career-spanning singles collection, “Papercuts”“Can we do justice to 'The Hunting Party'?” Shinoda responded, with Armstrong adding, “I think we should. This is the first time that song has been performed live.”

'Bleed It Out' from Linkin Park's third album 'Minutes To Midnight' (2007) served as an encore to close the set. The bridge featured a snippet of Shinoda's song Fort Minor track “There They Go”.

Earlier in the show, Shinoda and Armstrong performed a shortened version of the song with piano. “Lost” is a previously unreleased track that came out last year. The new single “The Emptiness Machine” was also performed live.

Ahead of yesterday's show in California, Chester Bennington's Son Says Linkin Park Fans Were 'Aggressive' Towards Him as he criticized the reformed group. Additionally, Jaime said that his father's former bandmates “didn't ask me what I thought” about the comeback.

Initial reaction to the new lineup has been largely positive. among fellow artists and fans. However, controversy soon arose after it was revealed that Armstrong apparently had ties to Scientology and convicted rapist Danny Masterson. This became known after a message sent to the singer Mars Volta and former At the drive-in cinema Frontman Cedric Bixler-Zavala appeared online again.

Jamie, 28, later criticized Shinoda's comments. The latter explained that it might take fans “time to process” the band's reunion with Armstrong, and said that those who “disrespect” him over the decision “will lose my respect in return.”

Jaime later explained that he would be interested in attending the first Linkin Park reunion concert, despite his disagreement with Armstrong's participation. However, he claimed that the band did not offer him a ticket.

Armstrong explained last weekend that she would “gladly do it [Chester Bennington] proud”And issued a statement outlining her previous support for Masterson.

Meanwhile, Shinoda talks about why Linkin Park decided to keep their band name for the new lineup. He also said he was “not sure” whether the band would make new recordings of old songs featuring Bennington – who died by suicide in 2017.

In a statement, Shinoda wrote: “We feel truly inspired by this new lineup and the vibrant, energetic new music we've created together. We're weaving together the sonic touchpoints we're known for while continuing to explore new ones.”
