Minister demands support for 'magnificent' land law and state pact
The Minister of Housing and Urban Agenda, Isabel Rodríguez, demanded this Monday the support for the “magnificent” land law, currently undergoing parliamentary procedure in the Congress of Deputies, as well as for a State pact on housing, which goes beyond parties, administrations and the sector and counts on “social complicity.”
Rodríguez, who participated in Malaga with the President of the Council, Juanma Moreno, in the inauguration of the fourth edition of the National Housing Congress, assured that the State pact must go beyond the classic State pact “to the extent that political parties, administrations and the sector are always incorporated. “I believe that, in this case, the alliance of the country that I claim is also linked to empathy and social complicity,” insisted the minister during the congress organized by the Association of Promoters and Builders of Spain.
He said: “I would like this problem to be limited only to a class of citizens with more difficulties,” but he lamented that this problem affects everyone and gave an example of how teachers “have to share an apartment in big cities because the rent eats up to 80% of their salary and the nurses who take care of us do not have a home.” The government's goal is that citizens are not forced to spend more than 30% of their income on housing. Other “realities” that also stress the market, according to the minister, are tourist apartments and even the increase in private university residences.
However, he defended an alliance of countries “and that we are one” because he warned that the budgetary effort “multiplied by eight” is not enough. “We need more and we all need each other,” insisted the minister, who highlighted the 4 billion lines of the Official Credit Institute (ICO) that have translated into 57 operations under study, but warned that “there is still a long way to go.” way to go.
The minister announced a campaign of these aid lines in all territories to speed up the execution of the funds and so that the request is not limited only to developers but can also benefit local governments and social housing developers. The housing problem is “global”, he stressed, since it affects countries and cities around the world due to a global population growth, which he described as “unprecedented”. (EFE)
