A 59-year-old man was arrested this Tuesday (15) for raping his own niece, who at the time of the crime, in September 2012, was only 12 years old. This case occurred in Itacoatiara, in the interior of Amazonas.
According to delegate Paulo Barros, from DEP Itacoatiara, during a special interview at that time, the victim reported that the perpetrator offered R$ 100 to have sexual relations with her. He then took her to the bathroom of the house where they lived and abused her.
“During the investigation, a joint body examination was carried out which confirmed the existence of this criminal act. Since then, the man fled the city and recently returned, and began threatening the victim, who is currently 24 years old,” explained the delegation.
According to police authorities, as soon as they learned that the suspect was returning to the city, actions were taken that resulted in his location and arrest in the Jardim Lorena neighborhood. Furthermore, protective measures were requested from the Court for the young woman due to the threats received.
The man will be charged with vulnerable rape. He will have a custody hearing and will be available in Court.
