BBC Breakfast viewers were left concerned during the latest instalment of the programme as presenter Jon Kay sounded “a bit rough”.
His usually smooth voice was quite coarse throughout the episode, with BBC viewers taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, to comment on the matter.
“Someone get Jon Kay some Strepsils #bbcbreakfast,” one user penned on Twitter.
A second fan said: “Jon sounding a bit rough there #BBCBreakfast.”
Dylan quipped: “Nice to see Jon’s voice has reached its Patty Bouvier stage. #BBCBreakfast.”
Susan felt weather correspondent Carol Kirkwood also sounded unwell, writing: “Carol sounds croaky too.”
During the instalment, Jon hosted alongside Sally Nugent and they interviewed two contestants from Race Across the World which lands on BBC One tonight at 9pm.
After discussing the reality show, BBC producers shared a photograph of a young Jon cycling through China many decades ago.
Jon was all smiles in the photograph, wearing a green t-shirt and carrying a small red backpack.
“That must have been about 25 years ago,” Jon reminisced while taking a good look at the image.
“Look at you,” Sally gushed in admiration, “you are racing across the world.”
Jon added: “Going through China. The backpack is not quite big enough.”
Sally laughed about the image and replied: “I was going to say, you need a bigger bag.”
A photograph of Sally exploring Wales was then shown to BBC Breakfast viewers which Jon had dug out, leaving Sally shocked.
She admitted she did not remember the photo of her grabbing onto a tree during a ramble in the countryside being taken.
BBC Breakfast airs daily on BBC One from 6am and Race Across the World returns tonight at 9pm on BBC One.
