BBC Breakfast presenter shake-up as host ‘returns’ to show after major announcement

BBC Breakfast fans saw a slightly different presenting duo on Monday morning. Usually, viewers are used to seeing Sally Nugent and Jon Kay host at the beginning of the week.

However, for the bank holiday episode, it was Nina Warhurst and Ben Thompson. Over the past few days, there has been a series of changes as the broadcaster has paired different presenters together.

Over the weekend, fans noticed Charlie Stayt was missing and replaced by Ben alongside Naga Munchetty. Similarly, Ben was at the helm last Monday to fill in for Jon Kay next to Sally Nugent.

As Jon has been absent for two Mondays in a row, Nina and Ben were there to welcome BBC viewers to a new week on April 1. Nina, who returned to the show in January after maternity leave, is often on the show doing various different news segments, although she hasn’t been at the forefront of the programme for a while.

It seemed as though fans were thrilled to see her back at the forefront as some viewers took to Twitter to share their thoughts. @wilson5roy said: “Nice to see @NinaWarhurst back presenting @BBCBreakfast missed your smile!!”

@Susan05713606 added: “@NinaWarhurst lovely blue dress today Nina.”

Complimenting Ben presenting with Nina, @southammark tweeted: “@BBCBreakfast if proof weren’t needed Ben with ladies yesterday and today lovely way to welcome our day friendly great show.”

Nina being at the forefront of the show comes after her most recent announcement on Instagram.

The BBC host revealed she’ll be taking a step back from her time online so that her baby girl has her full attention.

Sharing a sweet snap holding her daughter, Nina wrote: “Signing off from Insta for a few weeks. I *love* this site. I don’t take myself, or the apparently perfect lives of others, too seriously.

“I howl laughing every day from a scarily accurate meme. I connect with lovely people who I don’t get to see IRL. And there are loads of cats and babies.”

Although the BBC star revealed she may love social media a bit too much after finding herself constantly on it.

She continued: “I’ve found myself scrolling All. The. Time. Catching up on people’s stories, having a nosey at how people live who have nothing to do with me, and (the absolute grossest) checking for likes… Enough is enough.”

The BBC presenter told her followers that she has too many plates to spin and her daughter needs her full attention.

Nina welcomed her daughter, in the summer last year with her husband Ted who is their third child together.

She made her comeback to the programme at the start of January as she told the presenters at the time she missed everybody and it was good to be back.

Nina joked: “I know everyone thinks their baby is the best one but sorry guys, mine actually is yeah.”

BBC Breakfast continues weekdays on BBC One from 6am.
