BBC Morning Live’s Gethin Jones’ fury at co-star as Ross Kemp suffers tech issue

Morning Live presenter Gethin Jones has said he feels “embarrassed” about how angry he was at co-star Dr Ranj Singh following a quiz show appearance. Gethin was captain of a Morning Live team who took part in a special celebrity episode of Bridge Of Lies.

Anna Haugh and Bryony May Williams made up the rest of the team of the Ross Kemp-fronted show. They were playing to win money for charity in an episode that will air later this year.

Host Ross was a guest on Tuesday’s (March 12) show which gave them the opportunity to air a clip to promote their upcoming edition. Prior to showing the snippet, Gethin admitted: “(It’s) actually properly terrifying when you are playing the game. It’s fair to say one of us – one of the team – may have buckled under the pressure.”

They then showed a segment of their episode which saw a flustered Ranj standing on the show’s “bridge” as he tried to figure out which statements were lies. The team had £3,150 in their prize pot and needed him to get across so they didn’t lose it but the beleaguered doctor even admitted he couldn’t remember a medical term.

When he picked the wrong statement the team looked visibly gutted. As they cut back to the studio, Gethin admitted: “I haven’t seen that. I’m a bit embarrassed as to how angry I am with Ranj about that.”

Co-host Heen Skelton clarified that this was indeed the case after filming. “He was so angry! It’s only a game,” she told him.

“I’m competitive,” Gethin confessed before offering an olive branch to his colleague.

“Sorry Ranj – we’re a team at the end of the day,” he said.

Ross, who joined the studio via Zoom, and Helen, seemed to find his reaction hugely amusing.

However, Ross was having embarrassing issues of his own as he struggled to figure out how to connect to the show.

He was visibly playing with his settings as he asked if they could hear him and clearly couldn’t hear the studio.

They were forced to give him a few moments to deal with his technical issues before he finally joined them for a chat.

This led Helen to quip: “He can navigate a prison in Ecuador but he can’t get around Zoom!”

Morning Live is on BBC one weekdays at 9.30am.
