CBB’s Fern Britton makes romance confession after marriage split from Phil Vickery

It looks as though Fern Britton opens up to Louis Walsh in Thursday night’s episode of Celebrity Big Brother. Official spoilers from ITV reveal that the 66-year-old is speaking about her career with the former X-Factor judge.

She admits: “I’m ready to slow down, like you, I’ve been working solidly since I was 20.” Agreeing, Louis replied: “You realise what life is, and realise why haven’t I done this before, why didn’t I go there, why didn’t I do that?”

He tells Fern that if she picks the right person she’ll have great fun and might fall in love. Although it seems as though romance is out the window for Fern.

She replies: “I don’t want to fall in love again.” Fern tied the knot to This Morning chef Phil Vickery back in 2000 following the end of her first marriage to Clive Jones.

The pair met on the set of BBC Two’s Ready Steady Cook and had one child together called Winnie. However, after two decades the pair decided to call it a day.

Speaking about the split on Good Morning Britain in the past, Fern told the host’s that she and Phil “fell apart” following the death of her mum and dad.

Ahead of entering the Celebrity Big Brother house, Fern told Weekend Magazine that she’s currently not dating anyone.

The 66-year-old revealed she wants to know more about herself first but vowed never to live with someone again as she likes her own space.

Since entering the ITV reality show, Fern has faced eviction once when guest lodger Sharon Osbourne chose her to face the public over Zeze Millz.

Although she was saved by the votes alongside Louis, with Lauren Simon becoming the second person to leave, Fern isn’t the frontrunner to take the championship.

According to Ladbrokes latest bettings, Fern’s odds of winning the show stand at 8/1, which puts her ahead of Ekin-Su Culculoglu, Louis Walsh, Marisha Wallace and Zeze Millz.

However, storming ahead of the competition is Colson Smith whose odds stand at 7/4 to win, with David Potts a close second at 3/1.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Colson was favourite to win the series before any celeb entered the house, and once again he’s the one to beat, with punters now clearly convinced he’ll go all the way.”

The latest figures come after ITV viewers saw Colson have an emotional moment this week.

While playing a game where housemates had to answer a series of questions, Levi Roots said he thought Colson was the most boring before their challenge.

Taking himself away to the bathroom, the Coronation Street star was heard taking deep breaths and sniffing before being consoled by Bradley Riches and Nikita Kuzmin.

Celebrity Big Brother continues weeknights on ITV from 9pm.
