Coronation Street rocked as Sarah Platt uncovers painful DNA secret

Coronation Street’s Sarah Barlow (played by Tina O’Brien) could be set to receive some devastating news as Stephen Reid’s (Todd Boyce) journal could reveal her father isn’t who she thinks it is.

In upcoming scenes, Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) continues to mourn for Stephen and soon gathers up his belongings.

She asks Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) if she would like to take anything after dating him for a short time before he died.

The Rovers landlady asks whether she could have his laptop and explains she used to use it from time to time.

Elsewhere, David Platt (Jack P Shephard) studies his uncle’s old journey and is stunned to discover that his mother Gail Platt (Helen Worth) was initially unsure who Sarah’s father was.

Not wanting to keep the secret, he tells Sarah everything about Gail’s doubts after her birth, but how will she react?

Later on, Gail tells the family that she’s sick of all the in-fighting as Audrey needs their support and she wants them all to meet at 11.00 am tomorrow morning to sort things out.

But who is Sarah’s father and will the mystery ever be cleared up? Will Sarah be able to forgive her mother if she has been lied to all these years?

Sarah was born in 1987 and her biological father was said to be Brian Tilsley (Christopher Quinten) who was stabbed to death when she was two years old.

Brian was defending a woman from a group of thugs outside of a nightclub, right after Gail had called time on their romance, convinced they weren’t suited.

Soon after Brian’s death, Gail met Martin Platt (Sean Wilson), who ended up adopting Sarah and raising her as his own daughter.

But could there be another mystery man in Gail’s life the family don’t know about?

On top of the possible family drama, Sarah is also set to be reunited with Damon Hay (Ciaran Griffiths).

The pair embarked on an affair earlier this year which was the root cause of her marriage breakdown to Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson).

Will she be able to keep away from Damon this time or will she be intrigued by his charm once again?

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
