Coronation Street viewers issue same complaint about Jenny Connor’s admission

Coronation Street’s Jenny Connor (played by Sally Ann Matthews) finally came clean about stealing Carla Connor’s (Alison King) money in Wednesday’s episode (March 3) and viewers had a lot of opinions about the revelation. She finally cracked after Carla made a barbed dig about the fact that Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) believed she and Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) had taken her cash after figuring out how to access serial killer Stephen Reid’s (Todd Boyce) accounts.

Jenny was clearly anxious about being found out and insisted to partner in crime Daisy they find a way to pay the money back without Carla finding out, but Daisy told her they should just keep quiet.

However, as the Karaoke night got going, tensions came to a head between the pair. After Daisy flaunted an expensive handbag Jenny chastised her not realising their words could be heard over the microphone.

As Carla realised what was going on and threatened to broadcast it to the pub she and Jenny headed to the beer garden. Unable to live with the guilt anymore, Jenny crumbled.

She tearfully told her stepdaughter that they took it but had every intention of paying it back. Blaming Daisy for pushing her to get through with it at one point Jenny offered her instalments of £500 a month – meaning it would take 40 years to reimburse the factory owner.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, viewers aired their thoughts on the dramatic scenes. @Greg_Phillips_ opined: “This is so ridiculous…..short of Jenny winning the lottery, there’s no way that backstreet pub would make enough profit to pay back £247,000 in a reasonable timescale. Maybe the new kitchen will be swinging into action and serving up hotpot deluxe…#Corrie.”

@CaroleAnn1982 was equally incredulous: “So Daisy and Jenny stole £250k from Carla and are now going to pay it back in a few months? Carla will hang, draw and quarter then #corrie.”
@CaroleAnn1982 opined: “It’s bad enough that Daisy and Jenny took the money they needed for the pub but what makes it worse is them frittering away the rest of it #corrie.”

@DavidBoink observed: “You and your big mouth Jenny It’s all your fault #Corrie.” @VampLover27 pointed out: “Jenny now works for free for the foreseeable future #Corrie.” Meanwhile @thomas_matthewj praised the cast commenting: “Carla, Daisy and Jenny are keeping this show alive between the 3 of them #corrie,” followed by the applause emoji.

Although Carla went to the police station determined to get justice, she was talked out of reporting them by nephew Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott).

After he told her he loved Daisy she couldn’t break his heart and the two of them headed back to the pub.

Once there she announced that she was taking over the ownership of the Rovers Return and she also brutally sacked Daisy while keeping Jenny on.

Coronation Street is on ITV Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm.
