Coronation Street’s Damon Hay (Ciaran Griffiths) is set to return to Weatherfield in the coming weeks and cause more mayhem for Sarah Barlow (Tina O’Brien) and Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson). Damon left the Street in a hurry earlier this year after realising that a top drug dealer was seeking him out to make him pay for grassing on him.
At the time of his exit from the ITV soap, Damon had no clue Sarah was pregnant with his baby following their steamy affair. In upcoming scenes, Adam assures Sarah that he is feeling better after he suffered another panic attack.
She quickly suggests they meet for a drink and a hopeful Adam thinks that this could be a new start for them both.
Whilst sitting in the pub Sarah googles panic attacks and promises Adam that they’re going to tackle his anxiety together.
After spending the evening together, the pair part ways but neither of them notices that Damon watching them from across the street.
As Adam heads for his office, a man follows him in a van and is soon horrified to find himself tied up in the back of the van, will he be able to escape this?
Could Damon finally be getting revenge on Adam for driving him out of Weatherfield? Is this the end of the line for Adam?
Coronation Street boss Iain MacLeod recently opened up about Damon’s return and told Express.co.uk and other press: “The story kicks off almost in the first moment of the new year. It’s revisiting the unfinished business between Adam, Sarah and Damon.
“We arrive in the new year and Adam and Sarah are rubbing along okay. They’re trying to amicably co-parent Harry, as per the agreement when they split up, and it’s going alright.
“Then suddenly, ‘wallop’, Adam finds himself in this nightmarish situation all at the hands of Damon, who’s unexpectedly come back.
“You may remember that he was run out of town by Adam’s scheming.
“In our minds, Damon has been somewhere away from Coronation Street plotting his revenge. It arrives as a fairly blunt force on the first episode in the new year.”
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
