Corrie’s Helen Flanagan details ‘terrible’ health ordeal after split from Scott Sinclair

Coronation Street star Helen Flanagan has shocked fans as she announced a new diagnosis. The soap actress has revealed that she had psychosis following the split from footballer Scott Sinclair.

The duo, who were together for 13 years, started dating when Helen was only 19 years-old. In 2022, Helen announced that she had called time on her relationship with Scott, who is the father to her children Matilda, Delilah and Charlie.

Helen has now broken her silence on social media to announce her health ordeal, but insisted that she is in “really good happy place now” after therapy.

The 33-year-old shared: “Basically I really struggled mental health wise December/January. I felt really not great in my head over Christmas and I didn’t really feel that much different when I took the kids away for new year.

“I had a lot of difficult things going on things I just can’t talk about on Instagram. I was due on my theatre tour which I was excited about so when I came back from holiday […]

“I thought it was best for me to take some medication so I’d feel better and be able to cope better with being a working single mum of three and I was emotionally struggling with the break up from the father of my kids but I had a really bad reaction though to the medication ( an ADHD medication) and it sent me into a psychosis for a few days which I didn’t know I was in.”

She concluded: “I’ve always been honest on here and I feel in a really good happy place now xxx therapy can be amazing and I feel like I’ve worked on myself with things that were quite tough to me but I feel lighter now.”

Helen was due to appear in the stage production of Cluedo 2 as Miss Scarlett, but was forced to pull out due to medical reasons. Her role was replaced by Strictly Come Dancing winner Ellie Leach.

Many of her 1 million followers flooded the comments section with words of support. One person said: “Glad you’re feeling better Helen.”

A second chimed in: “I read the word struggle, but I felt the word strength. There’s so much strength in seeking help, especially as a busy, working mama. You don’t even need to explain.”

A third typed: “Aww Helen it’s not easy looking after 3 kids with the pressures of life too you are an amazing mum so happy you took time out for your self all the best.”

According to The Daily Mail, the reason behind the split with Scott was due to the pair “growing apart.” Helen stayed single for nine months before she started dating again and set up a profile on a “celebrity” dating app.

The mum-of-three is best known for playing the role of Rosie Webster in Coronation Street. Appearing from 2000 until 2012, she made a brief return in 2017 before quitting the soap in 2018.
