Death in Paradise icon drops major Ralf Little replacement hint as he names huge UK star

Ben Miller was a hit on BBC show Death in Paradise between 2011 and 2014, when he played DI Richard Poole. He has now shared who he believes should replace the current star of the show Ralf Little, during an appearance on Lorraine Kelly’s morning show.

Keen to join the voices calling for the Guadeloupe thriller series to recruit a female as the leading lady, he said his vote might be with Miranda Hart. “I wonder, is it time to switch it up a bit and have a female detective – and if we did maybe Miranda Hart?” he suggested to a keen-looking Lorraine.

Miranda is no stranger to appearances in BBC dramas, as she made headlines when portraying Camilla (Chummy) in Call The Midwife. She has also made history in the past for being the first female, after she presented the Royal Variety Performance in 2017.

The heartwarming moment, which saw her host in the presence of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, saw her become the first woman to present solo in an incredible 105 years. However, despite flying the flag for female representation over the years, Miranda isn’t one of those known to be in the running for Death in Paradise – yet.

There is another female who has been predicted as the show’s first female lead, though – Diane Morgan. According to recent reports, she has odds of 7/1, or a 12.5% chance of clinching the role.
