Death in Paradise Ralf Little’s replacement ‘confirmed’ as BBC co-star ‘steps in’

Death in Paradise fans think they know who will replace Ralf Little. The 44-year-old made his debut as the main detective in the BBC crime show in 2020.

Last month, the show aired its final episode from series 13, which saw Detective Inspector Neville Parker get his happy ending as he rode off into the sunset with DS Florence (Joséphine Jobert). The actor had been the longest-serving DI on the series since it first kicked off in 2011.

Viewers were devastated when Ralf revealed he was stepping down from the role after four years. Following news of his departure, fans began speculating who will be stepping in as head of the Saint Marie squad.

A number of them are certain that Jaye Griffiths will take on the role. The actress, 60, starred as DI Karen Flicroft for one episode in 2023, and now viewers believe she could be set for a comeback.

Sharing their thoughts online, one wrote: “If Ralf is ever replaced, he should replaced by Jaye Griffiths.” Another agreed: “Next Detective Inspector could be female but it’s not Florence. I will have a bet on the excellent Jaye Griffiths as Detective Inspector Karen Flitcroft.”

A third said: “Jaye Griffiths was terrific as DI Karen Flitcroft. Will she be back? Here’s hoping.” Someone else speculated: “I wonder if we will get Jaye Griffiths, think her character from last year could be a good redemption for her character.”

A fifth begged: “Please, please, please can Jaye Griffiths be the next DI on the island!” At the time of his departure, Ralf thanked fans for the support he’d received as he reflected on his time on the show.

He began: “It has been an absolute privilege and pleasure to bring Neville Parker to all of you and to share his really quite profound journey with you. I can’t thank you all enough for the support over the last four-and-a-half years and as Neville heads off for new challenges and adventures and I head off for new challenges and adventures.

Ralf continued: “When I look back at the time I spent on Death In Paradise, the way everyone took Neville into their hearts, it really has been one of the most magical and profound experiences of my entire life. If it wasn’t for all of you, I’d have never of got to do it. So thank you, so so much! What next for the show? Well, I couldn’t even tell you if I did know but I don’t! I don’t know!”

The former professional footballer went on: “But what I do know is that the team that makes it, the producers, the writers, directors, all the crew, guest cast and of course my absolutely magnificent co-stars. They know what they’re doing and the future is in good hands! So I’ll be watching series 14 along with you guys with the same excitement you all will. I can’t wait to see what happens next!”
