Ralf Little, who is known for playing Detective Inspector Neville Parker on Death in Paradise, had an amusing exchange with Naga Munchetty on BBC Breakfast today. Speaking to Naga and her BBC co-host Charlie Stayt about his Two Pints Live! Tour with Will Mellor, the star made a cheeky quip about ageing.
Discussing his podcast with former co-star Will, 48, Ralf explained why he felt their dynamic works so well. The Royle Family actor, 44, spoke about how they were able to make fans roar with laughter but also to speak about important topics like men’s mental health.
“We’ve always made each other laugh and we’ve always had that ability to be silly and then serious,” he said. “But – we got old! So we still do the stuff that…”
At this point, Naga interjected: “How old are you?” Ralf replied. “I’m 44 – just turned 44.”
“So you’re older than me,” Naga, 49, pressed. “So you’re saying I’m old?”
“Well…” Ralf trailed off, as Naga started laughing after calling him out for the comment.
Ralf then paused for a moment, before issuing the response: “Old father time gets to us all.”
The star then couldn’t help but aim a cheeky jibe at his pal Will, saying: “And Will – he’s just had a birthday – I think he’s about 56 now…”
“That is so not true!” Naga interrupted, calling him out once more.
At this, Ralf started smiling, as he admitted: “No, it’s not true, but I’m going to make that fact now.”
“I hope he’s watching!” Naga added gleefully.
During his appearance on BBC Breakfast, Ralf also said he couldn’t believe how well tickets for their upcoming tour had sold.
It comes after the actor decided to step down from his role in Death in Paradise after four and a half seasons on the popular BBC programme.
BBC Breakfast airs from 6am on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
