Emmerdale couple torn apart after Ruby Milligan attacks Chas Dingle

It’s no secret that Emmerdale’s Ruby Fox-Milligan (played by Beth Cordingley) has made some enemies in the village since arriving at the start of the year. However, official spoilers for the ITV soap reveal that next week, she takes things a step too far.

In upcoming scenes, Ruby is furious when she learns that Caleb Milligan (Will Ash) no longer wants to leave the village, despite their plans. His quick change of heart seems to have happened following a single conversation with Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter).

Later on, Caleb enters the Woolpack and receives a warm welcome from everyone. However, things quickly turn sour when Ruby follows him inside.

Brewing for a fight as the Dingle’s continue to meddle in her plans, it’s not long before a slanging match unfolds. As Ruby and the Dingles go at each other, things take a dark turn.

The confrontation turns nasty when Ruby accidentally elbows Chas in the chest. As she crumples in pain following her double mastectomy, Ruby realises what she’s done.

Following the fallout of Ruby injuring Chas, Caleb makes it clear he’s sided with his family and publicly rejects his wife.

Heartbroken, Ruby is inconsolable outside of the pub on her own after what has just happened.

Although as Caleb emerges incandescent with rage, Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) is worried for Ruby.

Will Ruby manage to convince Caleb that she elbowed Chas by accident? Or will he call it a day on their marriage once and for all?

It seems as though Ruby’s outrageous antics also leave soap star Beth Cordingley baffled sometimes.

Speaking about her character’s outbursts, she said: “It’s definitely not how to make friends and influence people”.

“That is not a life skill she’s learned! It’s quite frustrating when you get the scripts because you just think, ‘Oh my God, she’s just rude to everybody’”.

Justifying Ruby’s actions, Beth believes it’s because her best form of defence is to attack.

Beth continued: “She’s very impulsive and spontaneous, she seems to speak and act without thinking.

“Ruby just reacts to stuff very fierily and then is quite often full of regret afterwards.”

However, has Ruby taken things a step too far in hurting Chas?

Emmerdale continues weekdays on ITV from 7:30pm.
