Emmerdale viewers are convinced Belle Dingle (played by Eden Taylor Draper) has made the “biggest mistake of her life” proposing to “evil” Tom King (James Chase).
During the latest episode of the Yorkshire soap, Belle took Tom to an ice rink in Leeds where he was surprised by a performance from Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean.
Being a huge fan of the Olympians, Tom was thrilled. Moments after their performance, Belle dropped down on one knee to pop the question.
To her relief, Tom accepted her proposal and they shared a kiss on the ice in front of onlookers. However, viewers have not forgotten about Tom’s violent past.
Taking to Twitter, Doreen Morfitt penned: “So you propose in an ice rink – which means getting down on one knee in wet ice. Didn’t think that one through Belle No wonder you can’t see the red flags fluttering around Tom’s head #Emmerdale.”
A second viewer simply warned: “Belle’s about to make the biggest mistake of her life #Emmerdale.”
Jack shared with a red flag emoji: “Belle proposing to Tom [red flag emoji]. He’s evil, unleash the reindeer they’ll take him down #emmerdale.”
Pete remarked: “Belle is a right mug to marry that woman beating p***k #emmerdale.” Meanwhile, Dion warned: “Don’t marry him, Belle, he’s not right #Emmerdale.”
Belle and Tom stars Eden and James opened up to Express.co.uk about their engagement ahead of the romantic instalment airing on ITV.
Addressing the shocking moment Tom pushed Belle over months prior to her proposal which left her with a bleeding head, the actress said: “I do think Belle thinks he is the love of her life. I think obviously it was a major thing that happened but straight afterwards it was so positive.
“So I think it was one of those things she has very quickly forgotten about. It’s just like, ‘Wow, I am so in love with you,’ and that is at the very back of her mind.”
The couple are set to get married on Valentine’s Day – but will the wedding go down as planned? Will Tom keep to his promise and never lay a hand on Belle again, or will history sadly repeat itself?
