Emmerdale taken off air in another ITV schedule shake-up

Emmerdale has been pulled off air on Tuesday in yet another ITV soap shake-up.

Sports coverage has been impacting soaps airing for the past few weeks, with the Six Nations rugby and FA Cup filling their evening slots.

Emmerdale usually airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV and ITVX, but tomorrow’s episode has been removed to make way for football.

The Women’s EUFA Euro 2025 qualifier match will be aired during the timeslot, with England going up against the Republic of Ireland.

Coverage will commence from 7pm, with the match kicking off at 7.30pm.

However, Emmerdale fans can look forward to a double episode this evening (Monday, April 8).

The 60-minute instalment will see Cain Dingle (played by Jeff Hordley) shut down Ruby Fox Milligan’s (Beth Cordingly) plan.

Meanwhile, Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) and her partner Charles Anderson (Kevin Mathurin) get caught up in a lie.

Emmerdale bosses confirmed the shake-up on Twitter on Monday morning.

They wrote: “We aren’t on tomorrow But don’t worry because we’re on for an hour tonight! #Emmerdale.”

The hour-long episode of the Yorkshire Dales-based drama will air between 7pm and 8pm on ITV.

Commenting on the post, one fan noted: “And don’t forget that a BSL Signed version is available on #ITVX at 9pm after the airing.”

A second shared: “Can’t wait see you tonight #Emmerdale.”

The shake-up comes days after Coronation Street was taken off air to make way for a football match between England and Sweden in the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 qualifier.

Emmerdale continues tonight at 7pm on ITV and ITVX.
