Fern Britton’s brutal Phil Vickery sex life confession before marriage ‘fell apart’

Celebrity Big Brother star Fern Britton revealed she prefers a cosy cup of tea in bed to making love, even before her marriage to Phil Vickery broke down.

Famous TV personality Fern shared that she and her husband Phil were parting ways after over 20 years together in 2020.

The sad unravelling of their relationship was public as Fern previously confessed to The Mirror that she fancied a hot brew in bed more than intimacy.

“Sex is great but a cup of tea is great, too. There’s nothing nicer than getting into bed with a cuppa and having a hug and a chat – that’s love.”

Fern further elaborated, “Lust is great, but when you really love someone and you trust each other, and you’re in bed together drinking tea and chatting, that is a true relationship,”.

Fern fell in love and got hitched with fellow This Morning chef Phil in 2000. Their path first intersected on the set of BBC Two’s Ready Steady Cook, from where they started dating.

Their binding vows were declared once Ferns divorce with TV executive Clive Jones was done and dusted.

A daughter named Winnie, who is now 17, graced their lives thereafter.

Apart from this, Fern is also the proud mother to twins Jack and Harry and daughter Grace from her previous partner Clive, who she was with from 1988 to 2000.

Showing her deep affection for Phil, she once termed him as her “life’s great love”.

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, she expressed, “He is my life’s great love, a really amazing, husband, partner, friend.”

Fern announced their separation on Twitter, writing: “After more than 20 happy years together, Phil and I have decided to go our separate ways.”

“We will always share a great friendship and our lovely children . We would appreciate it if our privacy is respected at this time. Thankyou for your continued kindness and support.”

In a previous interview, Fern had spoken candidly about her and Phil’s relationship, saying: “Yes, we have humdingers, but then we’re normal. Anyway, that’s good for the children to see. This is a real relationship.”

“You hear people say, ‘Thirty years and not a cross word.’ Sorry, I simply don’t believe that. But, if it is true, how boring.”

On Good Morning Britain in 2020, Fern revealed that a series of family tragedies ended their marriage, as she said: “My mum died and my father died and unfortunately Phil and I fell apart.”
