Strictly Come Dancing pro Giovanni Pernice has revealed his on-stage partnership with Anton Du Beke won’t be ending any time soon. The Italian dancer, who recently teamed up with the Strictly judge on their BBC travel series Anton & Giovanni’s Adventures in Spain, has announced he will be going back on tour with his pal and co-star.
Giovanni shared a photo with Anton to promote the tour, entitled Anton & Giovanni Together The Live Tour, alongside a series of June and July dates. The star excitedly captioned the Instagram post: “We have left Spain but we are back on the road together and I can’t wait brand new show coming up !!”
Many fans were excited to hear the news, with one commenting: “Absolutely loved your Spain journey together hope you make another series! Your both amazing together xx.” Another gushed: “Brilliant together and your shows are fantastic.”
“Yes all booked see you in july,” a third fan commented. A fourth praised the duo on their BBC show, writing: “Just watched your 3rd programme in Spain together. You two were amazing friends together.”
It comes after growing speculation over whether Giovanni will be given a celebrity dance partner on Strictly this year amid drama surrounding his 2023 partnership with Sherlock star Amanda Abbington.
Last year, Giovanni and Amanda’s stint on the BBC show came to an abrupt end when she quit the competition after five weeks, citing personal reasons.
Feud rumours then quickly escalated, as Amanda failed to mention Giovanni when writing about her Strictly experience on Instagram, while addressing her departure from the series.
Since then, the actress revealed she had been diagnosed with mild PTSD after her Strictly experience for “several reasons”.
Following reports about Amanda reportedly requesting footage from her training sessions with Giovanni, other sources have claimed his teaching methods brought some of his previous celebrity partners to tears.
However, while defending Giovanni, Michelle Visage told This Morning viewers he’s “the toughest pro there is” – but in a good way.
It has now been claimed Giovanni is set to have a meeting with BBC bosses to discuss his future on the show, which the broadcaster has not confirmed or denied.
A BBC spokesperson previously said of the reports surrounding Amanda and Giovanni: “The BBC offers a comprehensive range of support to all individuals taking part in our shows.
“Strictly Come Dancing has always taken duty of care incredibly seriously and there is a constant dialogue between senior members of the production team and the contestants to ensure any concerns are addressed swiftly.”
