Giovanni Pernice sparks concern he may ‘quit’ Strictly after Amanda Abbington drama

Strictly Come Dancing star Giovanni Pernice has sparked concern that he could quit the BBC One show following his feud with Amanda Abbington. The professional dancer, 33, was paired with the 52-year-old actress during the latest series of the BBC dance competition which aired last year.

However, the pair’s Strictly journey was cut short when Amanda quit the series citing “medical reasons”.The Sherlock star later claimed she suffered from PTSD following her stint on the show and reportedly demanded backstage footage of their time together.

Giovanni’s Strictly’s future was thrown into doubt following the reports but the BBC have continued to support him and he is also backed by the show’s judges. However, he has sparked further speculation about his Strictly future after he named his 2025 tour Giovanni: The Last Dance.

The name of his show has left fans thinking could be his final series on the BBC programme.

Speaking about the name of the tour, a source told The Mirror: “It is no secret that the last few months have been difficult for Giovanni.

“The name of his 2025 show will certainly get the rumour mill spinning.”

Meanwhile, another source told the publication that the name of Giovanni’s tour was planned long before Amanda quit the show.

Last month it was then revealed that Amanda had ditched her complaint against the BBC.

According to the Daily Mail, the star hasn’t been in contact with the channel and insiders told the publication that the matter was considered “closed”.

“There is no truth to this story,” they told The Mirror, adding that there was “nothing more to elaborate on”.

Back in January the BBC said they took “duty of care very seriously”.
