Giovanni Pernice appeared on Wednesday’s instalment of The One Show to discuss his latest tour as well as his Strictly Come Dancing partners.
The 33-year-old professional dancer gushed to host Alex Jones about his 2021 partner Rose Ayling Ellis who won the prestigious Glitterball Trophy with him.
Rose, an EastEnders actress, made history by becoming the first deaf contestant to take part in the BBC dance programme. She’s always praised Giovanni in interviews following their victory.
Alex then addressed his most recent Strictly Come Dancing partner actress Amanda Abbington who quit the series due to “personal reasons” in October.
Reports of an ongoing feud between the pair have been circulating for weeks.
The One Show’s Alex said: “There’s been a bit in the press recently about you and your Strictly partners. How would you describe yourself as a teacher?”
Giovanni replied: “Well I am definitely a perfectionist, you know I like, I like to, like everybody else, like every other competitor I like to win.
Express.co.uk has previously contacted the BBC for further comment on the allegations about the pair.
The BBC is reportedly backing Giovanni, offering him their “full support” and “checking on his mental welfare”, according to The Sun.
Giovanni continued: “But for me, it’s more about, I want to take out the best out of my partner. Especially if I see there is talent. I want to do my job.”
Giovanni continued: “I think like everybody else really, if you’re a singer, If you are a presenter, you try, you train your life to be the best.
“When you’re on Strictly you got only one week. I mean you know.” Alex said: “You would have cried if you were with me, well what’s the point.”
Giovanni concluded: “Well the point is you have four days to create a new dance, the music, try to teach the technique plus all the other interviews you have to do in the week.
He added: “You know it’s a tough job to do for sure.” The dancer went on to say he is a big fan of The Traitors which is currently airing on BBC One.
When asked if he’d take part in a celebrity version of the show hosted by Claudia Winkleman, he said he’d jump at the chance.
The One Show airs on weeknights at 7pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
