ITV Good Morning Britain’s Kate Garraway issues warning to co-presenter after racy remark

Good Morning Britain’s Kate Garraway was left blushing after a seemingly innocent introduction turned into saucy banter. The mum of two was welcoming Blue singer Duncan James to the show where he was covering the entertainment news for Richard Arnold.

“Duncan is here. He has slipped down his fireman’s pole to join us in the studio,” she said. She then quipped:  “We’re going to get Ed up there later. He’s curious.”

“I’ll come down the pole anytime. In fact I might even dance on it,” Ed clapped back, leading to awkward giggles from Kate.

“Crikey you opened up a whole Pandora’s box of delights and excitement there!” she exclaimed. The producers are getting the outfit ready as we speak.”

Following the awward exhange they carried on as usual. Duncan was temporarily in the showbiz hotseat as Richard Arnold is on holidays.

As part of his report he aired and exclusive report with his Blue bandmate Lee Ryan who spoke out for the first time about getting an autism diagnosis at the age of 40.

He also expressed his suprise when he reported that Dancing on ice star Claire Sweeney has enjoyed dates with her co-star from the reality show Ricky Hatton.

However not everyone was enamoured of his efforts. Over on X, formerly nown as Twitter  @daviesjanet6 laughed: “That showbiz news was just Duncan and his mates.”

@__Melissaaaa asked: “Is it in Duncan’s contract to constantly mention Blue every time he guest presents on #GMB.”

The diagnosis was retired in the next editions of these publications, the DSM-5 in 2013 and the ICD11 in 2019, when it was folded into the diagnosis of ‘autism spectrum disorder’.

@KarenlovesGB wasn’t a fan writing: “What’s so special about Duncan James? He seems to turn up randomly anywhere & everywhere #gmb.”

Meanwhile @FlopsyPickle pointed out an error in his report about Lee’s diagnosis writing: “Asperger’s is no longer used! Not one person corrected Duncan either #gmb #GoodMorningBritain.”

The phrase has been out of use since 2019 when it was folded into the diagnosis of “autism spectrum disorder”.

Good Morning Britain is on ITV weekdays at 6am.
