ITV I’m A Celebrity Tony Bellew’s wife shares why he clashed with campmate Fred Sirieix

Following Tony Bellew’s clash with his fellow campmate Fred Sirieix on I’m A Celebrity, the sports star’s wife Rachael has weighed in on the disagreement. The 41-year-old called out Fred, 51, for interfering while Josie Gibson was cooking lunch for the campmates.

The boxer also had his say when Fred jumped in to volunteer to do the latest bushtucker trial and didn’t let anybody else go for it. Tony’s wife Rachael appeared on Tuesday’s episode of Good Morning Britain, where she was joined by Richard Arnold as the pair spoke via a video link, live from Australia where the friends and families of the celebrities have gathered for the daily vote-offs.

Revealing why Tony has been stepping in to voice his opinion, she explained: “Ant likes people to be equal. Fred jumped up and said ‘I’ll do that’ and I think he just wanted to calm the situation. It’s fair for everyone to have a go at things.”

Viewers also previously admitted they thought Tony was annoyed at his new pal Sam Thompson after his over-enthusiastic attitude towards the sports star.

However, Rachael put an end to that rumour as she said Sam, 31, is welcome at their family home whenever he likes. “He’s just another child. There’s a chair around the Christmas table for him. The more the merrier,” she told Richard, 54.

When asked if she was surprised with how well her husband was doing, Rachael responded: “Yeah, I’m really surprised and I think he is more than anything.

“When I watch the evictions, I can see the shock on his face that he’s still getting kept in. He’s 100 percent surprised me.”

On Monday night’s episode of the ITV show, things got heated in the jungle as Fred and Josie continued to clash over the cooking. Tony attempted to step in and manage the rising conflict, as he told Fred to stop interfering as it was annoying Josie.

The dad-of-four again hit out at the First Dates star after he volunteered himself for the trial and didn’t ask anybody else if they wanted to do it. Marvin Humes suggested himself to do the trial but Fred chimed in and claimed it for himself.

Tony jumped in and said: “Let’s just take our time and everyone have a little say of why they think they should do it before we just jump in and rush off. Chill out, Fred.”

I’m A Celebrity continues tonight at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
