ITV This Morning star fears Alison Hammond ‘won’t forgive’ him as prank left her ‘upset’

This Morning’s regular pawnbroker, Dan Hatfield, has suggested co-star Alison Hammond may not have “forgiven him” for his part in an April Fools Day prank. The ITV personality confessed he is unsure if Alison, 49, has let go of the incident or if she is “plotting her revenge.”

The prank unfolded on Monday’s show when Dermot O’Leary, Alison’s co-host, appeared to accidentally break a vase live on air. Unbeknownst to Alison, the entire situation was a set-up for April Fools Day.

Dan humorously reflected on the aftermath of the prank, sharing a selfie with Dermot and Alison in view of his 46,800 Instagram followers. He captioned it: “I’m not sure if Alison has forgiven us for our This Morning prank or plotting her revenge!”

Earlier on Monday, Alison had interviewed a woman named Vanessa who told a tale about a vase she bought for £1.50 at a car boot sale, which was later valued at £30,000 on Antiques Roadshow. Upon learning that there were only two such items in the world, Alison was astounded by the rarity of the piece.

Dan, who was also involved in the prank, expressed his desire to see the vase in person. As he spoke, Alison repeatedly cautioned Dermot to keep his distance from the item.

After a chat with Dan, Dermot O’Leary accidentally knocked over a vase, prompting Alison Hammond to exclaim in shock: “Oh my god, I’m so- are you actually joking D?

“I’m so sorry. I don’t even know what to say. I’m actually going to get upset, I’m so so sorry.”

Despite the apparent disaster, Dermot kept up the act, offering to pay for the damage.

The prank escalated as the owner of the vase appeared to cry, leading Dermot to continue his apologies: “I’m so sorry, I’ll pay for it, I’m so sorry everybody. I’ve only got one thing say which is April Fools! Welcome back Alison.”

Following the on-air joke, Dan joined Alison and Dermot for a follow-up video. Alison praised Dan, saying, “We have the number one in the studio today, absolutely bringing the dollar! Probably just evaluated to about £25,000 worth of money on This Morning.”

She then joked about joining him in Texas, but not on April Fools’ Day: “I mean, this is the man and I’m coming to Texas with you next year. Not on April Fools though!”

Dan shared the clip with his followers, expressing his delight at the success of the prank: “I still can’t believe how brilliantly our April fools prank on @alisonhammond55 turned out! @dermotoleary you were just amazing! So much love for these two!”

He also mentioned his return to the show: “Whilst I couldn’t be there in person on Monday I managed to get in to studio today for another Trash or Treasure phone in.”

He went on to say: “Jet lagged aside we had the best time and valued some amazing items with big profits for our @thismorning viewers! So many of you are getting in touch with the show to have your items valued so bare with us as we try to get through as many as possible!”

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV1 and ITVX.
