ITV’s Ant and Dec forced to issue apology after very rude Saturday Night Takeaway slip-up

Ant and Dec found themselves forced to apologise during their jam-packed finale of Saturday Night Takeaway after one guest forgot they were live on TV and uttered a swear word. The Nottingham resident was taking part in the Ring My Bell segment of the show.

The feature sees people around the country tasked with turning up at a stranger’s door with various household objects in hand. This time, it was a wheelie bin, a duvet and a hat, and one audience member’s neighbours in Nottingham gathered around his front yard to play.

In the middle of the segment, he blurted out ‘s***’ as he nearly missed his opportunity to win a luxury holiday – known on the ITV show as a takeaway getaway. He brought all three items along, but managed to forget to actually ring the doorbell, leaving Ant and Dec having to remind him, before he cursed and searched around for the bell.

Thankfully for the hopeful, he was still the first to complete the task, winning himself the holiday. Ant later apologised for the language – however, viewers were too distracted by another remark to notice.

Referring to the contestant bringing a helmet as his choice of hat, Ant quipped: “We can see your helmet!” An astonished Dec exclaimed “What?” to which Ant clarified: “On his head.”

This didn’t go unnoticed by viewers who took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their thoughts.

thomasoxleyquipped: “Apologising for swearing then they crack a joke about his helmet being on show! Brilliant! #snt #saturdaynighttakeaway.”

@MrSteveJD laughed: “‘We can see your helmet’ is a thing that was just said on prime time Saturday night telly… #SaturdayNightTakeaway.”

@leahhmariee93 commented with several laughing emojis: “‘We can see your helmet’ ooh Ant you are in a cheeky mood tonight @antanddec #SaturdayNightTakeaway.”

@swilliams73 opined: “Can we see your helmet. Live tv. Bit risky #SaturdayNightTakeaway.”

Meanwhile @DavidJosephLaw2 queried: “When was a helmet classed as a hat? #SaturdayNightTakeaway.”

Tonight marked the final Saturday Night Takeaway after 20 years as Ant and Dec have decided to “rest” the show.

Saturday Night Takeaway is available to watch on ITVX.
