Jeremy Clarkson slammed the internet for giving out “incorrect” information amid claims his farm shop was closed today.
The Grand Tour presenter, 63, told fans Diddly Squat Farm Shop opened on a bank holiday Monday but the official website suggested the shop would open again on Wednesday.
Taking to X the Clarkson’s Farm star tweeted: “Contrary to what it says on the endlessly incorrect internet, Diddly Squat Farm Shop is open today.”
Despite it being April Fools’ Day (April 1) the official Instagram account confirmed visitors could come down to the Oxfordshire farm as they shared a video of the shop with the caption: “Bank Holiday Monday too!”
Social media users appeared confused by the announcement, as one person quizzed: “Are you open today? Says on website you are closed?”
The Diddly Squat team replied: “We are open ALL bank holidays.”
Another stated: “Says on Facebook and Google you are closed.” They confirmed: “We requested to change that on our site in Jan.”
A third wrote: “Hopefully make it before closing time,” while another commented: “We’re on our way! See you soon.”
The news comes after the farm shop announced a temporary closure earlier this year but it reopened on March 1, however, shoppers could order products online. At the time an announcement on the Diddly Squat Farm shop website read: “The farm shop is closed from the 1st January – 29th February, our online orders are operating as normal. We look forward to seeing you in March.”
Jeremy bought his 1,000-acre farm in the Cotswolds back in 2008 and had no idea it would become the subject of a hit show 15 years on.
“I mean, the truth of the matter was that land almost never comes up for sale round here,” he told LADbible last year. “And 2008 was the big financial crash, and this came up for sale, and I just thought, ‘Nobody’s making more land, so it’s as well to buy it.’
“And it was going, nobody would call it cheap, but cheaper than you’d imagine.”
While the former Top Gear star did not divulge the total cost, he admitted: “So many people are moving out from London – but [the land] was a lot, lot, lot, lot, lot less then. So I just thought, may as well get it.”
Clarkson’s Farm series three will air on May 3 2024, exclusively on Prime Video. Production has also started work on a fourth series, Prime Video announced.
