Kate Garraway enjoyed an “amazing week” abroad as she recently returned home.
The Good Morning Britain presenter shared a glimpse of her luxury flight experience and announced her new career venture.
The 56-year-old expressed her gratitude following the service she received on her Emirates flight, despite the storm and delays which hit the UK in recent days.
She wrote: “Just landed back home after an amazing week filming – meeting some truly inspirational people (can reveal all in September). Every flight that lands safely is a good flight by me!
“But this was exceptional. Despite storms internationally and delays the staff were calm and kind and managed to look as fresh as these flowers – even on landing. I am more resembling pot pouri but feel great!!! Thanks @emirates. #itsthelittlebigthings #kind #gratitude #pureclass.”
The ITV star sadly lost her husband Derek Draper in January following ongoing complications with the coronavirus.
Kate has previously opened up about the financial strain of his care costs and has shared that her earnings don’t stretch far enough to cover the extensive debts that total £800,000.
She previously admitted feeling “ashamed” at being in debt, as she told Richard Madeley on GMB: “I am ashamed of the fact that I am in debt – Well because I have an incredible job that I love, that’s very well paid.
“I’m not a carer, travelling miles, paying their own transport to go and help somebody for minimum wage. I’m somebody who is very well paid and so I just feel ashamed that I couldn’t make it work.”
The mum of two’s 1.2 million followers defended the presenter after she received criticism for her plane journey.
One supporter said: “Kate has just lost her husband, she’s working to support her children. The flight was probably paid by the company she’s working for. Why are people so nasty with their comments. If you’re not happy don’t read the posts. Sending love to you Kate x.”
Another commented: “Such an amazing lady for doing everything for Derek and now for her kids. No need to be nasty. If u don’t like her block her. She is brilliant and may god give her everything she deserve.”(sic)
A third added: “Stay strong Kate, you are doing so well (on the outside anyway!).”
Kate has previously responded to the backlash after being targeted on social media as she continues to speak up about her late husband’s struggle.
“I think people are a bit bored of me banging on about the same thing”, she said on This Morning. “I understand that, really. I don’t think I would have made a third one if it hadn’t been that Derek wanted to but I’m glad I did.”
Kate has previously documented the impact of caring for Derek in two other ITV documentaries – Finding Derek and Caring For Derek. She recently released Derek’s Story following his death.
