Kim Kardashian sparks backlash over new BBC role as fans brand the news an ‘insult’

Kim Kardashian, the star who shot to fame on Keeping Up With The Kardashians, has landed a big role with the BBC.

However, fans are not pleased with the reality TV star producing and starring in a new documentary about Hollywood legend Elizabeth Taylor, and have been calling the news an “insult”.

The 43-year-old mum-of-three started her acting career in 2008 and has since appeared in films like Paw Patrol: The Movie and American Horror Story: Delicate.

Kim’s involvement in a new BBC biopic of Elizabeth Taylor, titled Elizabeth Taylor: Rebel Superstar, has sparked a wave of backlash on X, formerly known as Twitter, with some even branding it “an insult”.

One wrote: “I feel personally attacked by this… It’s Elizabeth Taylor! What about some respect?”

The show will give viewers a special look at Elizabeth’s life through the eyes of those who were close to her, including her family, pals, and workmates from her amazing career.

Not only Kim will be on the show, but also big stars like Dame Joan Collins, who once went up against Elizabeth for the part of Cleopatra.

BBC’s Alistair Pegg announced: “This exciting series promises a new understanding of Elizabeth Taylor – both her technique and power as an actor, and her capacity for reinventing herself.”

Hamish Fergusson from Passion Pictures said: “Elizabeth developed and defined our understanding of stardom and celebrity across decades. A unique talent and true luminary, we’re hugely excited to explore her extraordinary life and enduring legacy.”
