Waterloo Road star Kym Marsh has shared an emotional statement after it was announced that her father died earlier this week. David Marsh passed away on Friday after “a long battle with prostate cancer” aged 78.
The Coronation Street actress took to Instagram to share a heartbreaking image of herself hugging her dad. She penned: “For the first time in my life….I have no words. I love you, Dad. Always and forever. Rest easy Pops. Goodnight god bless.”
A statement to the PA News agency confirmed David’s death on Friday, stating: “It is with immense sadness that we confirm the passing of David Marsh.
“A much-loved husband, dad, grandad, great-grandad and friend to many, David passed away peacefully at home yesterday surrounded by his family. We are truly heartbroken and ask for privacy at this incredibly difficult time.”
Many of Kym’s followers flooded the comments section with words of sympathy. Faye Brookes said: “Sending you and your family all the love beautiful lady.”
One fan commented: “So sorry for your loss Kim, thinking of you all at this painful time,” as a third typed: “My deepest condolences to you and your family Kim on the passing of your beloved father Rip.”
A fourth wrote: “So sorry for your loss Kym thinking of you all at this very sad time xx,” as another chimed in: “So sorry for your loss kym your dad amazing lovely man. Sending my condolences.”
This is the latest tragic loss for Kym, 47, who recently said goodbye to her beloved pet dog, Barney, in September. She shared a poignant image of her dog’s ashes in a personalised cremation box on Instagram.
She wrote the touching caption: “The boy is home….. thank you so much to @vets_now Huyton for taking such good care of my beautiful Barney in his final hours and for treating us as a family with such care and compassion. Losing Barney has left a huge paw shaped hole in our lives and he will be missed always.”
The devestating news came shortly after Kym’s marriage to husband Scott Ratcliff ended in March 2023. Kym and Scott married in October 2021 in a star-studded bash, but the pair called it quits after just 19 months of marriage, according to claims.
According to The Mirror, the couple reportedly split due to “work commitments” and tried to fight for their relationship despite seeing each other for only one or two days a week.
