Loose Women’s Coleen Nolan announces ‘lifechanging’ news after health scare

Coleen Nolan has revealed she’s quit smoking after a recent health scare following a severe chest infection. The Loose Women star took to her Instagram page to share the news with her 346 thousand followers.

In a short clip she posted on her feed, the 58-year-old said her life was put into perspective since her chest infection and she now hasn’t smoked in two weeks.

She explained: “Guys, I have big news, big life-changing news for me. For those who know me, I have been a heavy smoker and I’ve tried everything over the years. The patches, vaping, tablets, everything and nothing’s kind of worked. However, just recently I got really, really, really ill with a severe chest infection.

“Could not breathe genuinely for a good few days, was struggling to breathe, went to a specialist. He was talking about COPD emphysema, and guess what? Light bulb moment. What are you doing, Coleen?”

“And since that day two weeks ago, I haven’t had a cigarette. And guess what? I don’t want one. I don’t want to smoke because life is too precious,” the ITV star expressed.

Coleen went on to reveal that she wants to have good health in the future so she can a part of her grandchildren’s lives when her own kids become parents.

She continued: “And when I was there thinking, ‘Oh, I can’t breathe during this’, my first thought was, ‘I’m not gonna be able to be the grandparent I wanna be when my kids have kids. I just won’t be able to do anything.”

Before she signed off, the singer issued some advice to her fans and anyone who is in the same position as her.

“To anyone out there that’s struggling, I’m with you. I know it’s difficult, but if I can give up, anyone can!,” Coleen concluded.

She captioned it: “It had to take something like this for me to realise…,” as she also wrote, “hardest thing I’ve ever done,” over the video clip.

Coleen’s Loose Women co-stars rushed to comment on the post as they supported and encouraged her.

A shocked Denise Welch simply commented: “What???,” as she was clearly in disbelief, and Katie Piper wrote: “Good for you,” with a red heart emoji.

Meanwhile Kelle Bryan said: “Sooooo proud of you and what a difference it has made already,” alongside a clapping hands emoji.
