Simon Cowell ‘sends support to star’ as Amanda Holden and Sharon Osbourne fight over him

Britain’s Got Talent boss Simon Cowell has reportedly sent a supportive text message to Amanda Holden via his fiancée Lauren Silverman, after she was subjected to a brutal takedown from his former X Factor co-star, Sharon Osbourne.

Sharon, 71, was less than impressed when Amanda, 53, seemed to brand her and Louis Walsh, 71, “bitter and pathetic” for criticising Simon, 64, during their joint stint on Celebrity Big Brother, in a cryptic dig. The Osbourne family matriarch didn’t hesitate in retaliating, by calling Amanda “classless” in a lengthy rant on X (formerly Twitter).

A source claimed to The Sun on Sunday: “It’s one of the first rules of celebrity; you never cross Sharon Osbourne — but Amanda stands by her comments. Her phone was inundated with messages of support from loads of well-known names, all sympathising hugely.”

One of her supporters was reportedly none other than Simon himself, as his partner Lauren sent a message to Amanda on his behalf, due to the music mogul not having a phone.

The source added: “Simon doesn’t have a phone so she did it on behalf of them both.

“For her part, Sharon is at a stage of her career where she really doesn’t give a s***.”

Express.co.uk has contacted a representative for Simon for comment.

It comes after Amanda refused to back down on her scathing comments about Sharon, with a spokesperson for the star telling Express.co.uk: “Amanda is aware of Sharon’s incredible career but, just like her, Amanda will always defend those close to her.”

The row initially erupted after Amanda was quoted as saying in MailOnline: “I hated seeing certain people in a reality show dissing Simon he’s the person who’s given them all the chances, given them a lot of money and a lifestyle they probably wouldn’t have had.

“It’s bitter and pathetic. It was like Cinderella with her two sisters in the background just stabby, stabby, stabby.”

Sharon, who is married to Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne, promptly hit back, arguing that Amanda had neglected to understand her “history in the music industry, my achievements, the artists I have worked with, the shows that I’ve produced, and my global celebrity”.

She fumed: “I never discuss money, lifestyle, or positions of power. I find it to be classless and crude. However, you’ve now forced my hand to divulge these things to you and I honestly don’t want to seem like I’m bragging, but the truth is my money and success were not due to doing a couple of Simon Cowell talent shows.

“Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed doing them at the time as they were great fun. Yes, Simon paid me very well.”

Sharon went on to swipe that all her earnings from her work as a judge on Simon’s talent shows “went on a few handbags”.
