Strictly Come Dancing star Iwan Thomas secretly welcomed a baby boy and his fans had no idea.
Unlike many celebrities who share their new baby news loudly, the 50 year old Welsh sprinter chose to keep things under wraps. Thomas took part in the popular dance show in 2015 with professional dance partner Ola Jordan.
He recently shared that he has become a dad to a baby boy with his long-term partner, leaving fans surprised!
Keeping the identity of his partner out of the spotlight to respect her privacy, she gave birth to their lovely son in February. The Olympic medallist happily announced that they’ve named their son Bowie.
In an adorable post on social media, Thomas introduced the newest addition to their family. He wrote: “It’s a tough life being nearly 2 weeks old #cute #baby #boy #Bowie #tired.”
Well-wishers, including friends, family, and fans, flooded his announcement with messages of joy. They expressed surprise at the secrecy but were happy for the couple none the less.
“Dancing on Ice” star Greg Rutherford was amongst the famous faces sending good wishes, saying excitedly: “SO CUTE! ! ! ! ” in response to the baby photos.
Fans also chimed in with comments like, “Oh you’ve had another baby, so cute Congratulations xx,” and “You must be so proud”.
Little Bowie is the third child of the sports star, joining older siblings Teddy, five, and Dougie, two. Teddy, the eldest, was born prematurely and had to spend his early days in intensive care due to breathing difficulties after birth.
Doctors later discovered he had a severe Group Strep B infection, a fact that Iwan brought to public attention as he campaigned for more awareness about this potentially deadly bacteria.
Even though it’s been nearly ten years since Iwan danced on Strictly Come Dancing, he still holds a special place in the hearts of many fans, despite being the first celebrity to be voted off during his series. The show was eventually won by Jay McGuiness from The Wanted and professional dancer Aliona Vilani.
Besides his stint on Strictly and his achievements in sports, Iwan has also been seen on several other reality shows over the years, including Celebrity Hunted, The Wright Stuff, Through The Keyhole and Celebrity MasterChef.
