Strictly’s Layton Williams breaks silence following ‘fix’ claims with two-word response

West End star Layton Williams has broken his silence after he missed out on the Glitterball Trophy to Ellie Leach during Strictly Come Dancing’s 2023 grand finale.

During the all-important final, Layton scored two perfect scores, while victor Ellie Leach, 22, only got one during the night.

Many fans of the BBC ballroom competition took to social media, claiming the final was “fixed” after Layton lost to Ellie.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Jenny fumed: “Absolute FIX FIX, not deserved. Layton should have won – what a travesty!!! #Strictly.”

A second fan added: “Strictly fans are some of the worst. First complained how it was fixed for Layton because he had dance experience and now they’re saying it was a fix that Ellie won it instead of Layton. Eh! #Strictly.”

A third said: “Layton got robbed, the winners messed up their dance routine and got a pity win.”

John added: “Layton was robbed. So upset and to come third just adds insult to injury.”

The other star in the final was EastEnders actor Bobby Brazier who was partnered up with Australian dancer Dianne Buswell.

Layton,29, took to Instagram after missing out on the Glitterball Trophy with a two-word response to the competition drawing to a close after months of performing each weekend.

He shared a picture of himself enjoying a well-deserved cup of tea in a bubble bath with the caption: “Aaaannnd…Relax.”

Throughout his time in the competition, the Bad Education star had been forced to defend himself following backlash from viewers.

Many had claimed his West End background meant he had an “advantage” over his competitors.

Speaking to Express.co.uk ahead of the final, Layton addressed the criticism he had received.

He shared: “It has been hard, the pressure of feeling like you have to do well. No one is going hard and complaining when I am rubbish, remember the Viennese Waltz… Didn’t get many tweets that week did I?

“It’s only when you do it good is when people want to drag you down and we have managed to get around that and the biggest inspiration really is the people that it is inspiring and what we have managed to do as a duo and using I as ammo to be like, ‘We deserve to be here.'”
