The Chase’s Anne Hegerty addresses show exit as she lands new role away from series

Anne Hegerty, known for her role on The Chase, is set to become a movie star. She has been offered a part in a short film and she’s excited about it. She said: “I’ve been asked to be in the film and I’ve decided to go for it. We’re going to be making that in the next few months.”

She added to the Daily Star: “It should be a lot of fun. I’m rather looking forward to it.” This will be Anne’s first time acting in a movie, but she has some experience from doing pantomime every year since 2014.

She said: “That’s about it when it comes to experience. But the team behind the film obviously thinks I’ve got a bit of acting ability, which is a good sign.”

Anne hopes this film role will lead to more acting opportunities and she even encourages casting directors to contact her with offers. However, despite landing new roles away from The Chase, Anne has no plans to leave the show fronted by Bradley Walsh.

She added: “I don’t have any plans to retire. It’s [the show] the little workhorse that makes everything else possible, and I love doing it. It’s the best job I’ve ever had, so I’m happy to keep going as long as they want me for.”

During an appearance on This Morning in January, Anne opened up about what it’s like on The Chase behind the scenes.

Appearing alongside her co-star Shaun Wallace, Anne said about their friendships: “We spend a lot of time with each other anyway, and when we are doing something like The Chase, we’ve all got our own separate dressing rooms.

“But the crew have got used to the idea that if they want to find The Chasers, they’re probably all congregated in one dressing room… and they’re quizzing.”

Shaun added: “We really, really rate and respect each other and we really get on well.”

When asked what dressing room they gather in, Shaun admitted: “It’s usually Paul’s because we’re usually testing each other too, sort of, warm up to go on [the show].”

In a previous interview with Express.co.uk, Anne admitted her favourite thing about being on the show was working alongside Bradley.

She said: “Oh I have too many favourite things. Possibly working with Brad.

“He is just this legendary presenter, and he is just such a nice guy, all the Chasers have such a nice rapport with him.”

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
