Police have been searching for a man since Tuesday evening, August 6. An English citizen living in France has gone missing in Couserans, in the mountains.
The alert was raised after this person sent a message to the family. “He indicated that he was alone and had fallen,” states the prosecutor's office, which opened an investigation into the disturbing disappearance and entrusted it to the Ariège gendarmerie group and the High Mountain Gendarmerie Platoon (PGHM).
Call for specialized dogs
Emergency services attempted to geolocate the victim. Victim recognition dogs were called in to assist police. The latter do not have any information regarding the route or the road the man would have taken.
PGHM is continuing its search and may rely on aerial resources, particularly a helicopter equipped with a thermal imaging camera to locate the missing person at night if deemed necessary.
