actor Jackie Chan will carry the flame to Paris on Wednesday

Many Paralympic athletes will be in line, including Yannick Ifebe (wheelchair fencing), Clavel Kayitare (disabled athletics), Marie Graftiaux, John Petersson and Duane Kale (para-swimming).

Honor guard

The Paralympic flame arrived in France through the Channel Tunnel on Sunday, carried by wheelchair fencing medalist Emmanuelle Assmann, who was greeted on her arrival by French Sports and Games Minister Amélie Oudéa-Castéra. With the flame attached to her chair, Emmanuelle Assmann was greeted by a guard of honor made up of members of the Organizing Committee and children dressed in white volunteer T-shirts.

In addition to the minister and head of the Organizing Committee Tony Estanguet, around a hundred people were present, including around fifty elected officials and volunteers. The flame must continue its journey to Calais, where the vessel will be lit at 5:00 p.m. It will then be “multiplied” into twelve Paralympic flames that will be carried by 1,000 torchbearers in around fifty cities, over twelve simultaneous relays.

It passes this Sunday through the Rock en Seine music festival, on the outskirts of Paris, in the hands of the paraathlete Hélios Latchoumanaya (judo), the French-Iranian designer Marjane Satrapi and the DJ. Barbara Butch, victim of cyberbullying after her participation in the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games on July 26.
