Easyjet: Indefinite national strike notice filed after Toulouse base closure announced

The response was quick. After the surprise announcement, this Tuesday, September 10, a the closure of the Easyjet base in Toulouse Next March, the Union of Civil Aviation Pilots (UNAC Easyjet) goes on the offensive. In fact, the union just filed a notice of indefinite national strike. The company wants to clarify that “this opinion was submitted before the first discussions of the consultation process”. UNAC is calling on “all cabin crew (commercial cabin crew, editor's note) based in France to mobilize in solidarity and stop work from 16 September for an indefinite period”. Flights operated by British low cost in France could therefore be strongly disturbed starting next week.

Presented to staff representative bodies in a social and economic committee (CSE), “the proposal to close the Toulouse base is due to a combination of factors, including a slower post-Covid recovery and inflationary pressure,” the carrier explains in – a press release.

A closure plan and a voluntary departure plan

Easyjet's base in Toulouse currently has two A320 family aircraft and staff 125 employees, technical and commercial flight crew.
