A dramatic accident took place on Saturday, September 14, in the town of Labarthète, west of the Gers department. A man in his fifties lost his life in the early afternoon at around 1pm.

The victim was aboard a rider machine, an elevated tractor that allowed work between the rows and above the vines, when the machine overturned with her inside.

17 firefighters from Riscle, Barcelonne, Vic-Fezensac and Aire-sur-Adour, as well as the SMUR des Landes and the gendarmerie, were sent to the scene. The mayor was also there.

“The harvester overturned in the driver's cabin on a slope,” explains Philippe Dufau, the town's mayor.
