Kate accused of ‘hiding behind her hair’ at event but ‘keen to deal’ with Endgame fallout

Kate, the Princess of Wales, has been channelling Princess Diana amid recent Royal drama, according to an expert.

The Duchess of Cornwall visited Evelina London Children’s Hospital, where she officially opened its new day surgery unit.

During her visit, Kate interacted with children, explored the new facilities, performed the traditional ribbon-cutting and comforted a mother whose daughter had just undergone surgery.

This was Kate’s first solo engagement since the release of the controversial Royal book Endgame, which made several shocking claims about the princess and other members of the Royal family.

Body language expert Judi James believes that Kate is emulating her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, through a specific gesture.

She told The Mirror: “Kate’s walk up to the hospital shows a raised chin, wide stride and her arms hanging by her sides, creating an image of determination and drama-free resilience. There’s no clutch bag to use to create a barrier and her trouser suit looks practical and business-like.”

“The only time she does raise her left hand to hold it near her stomach it looks like a subconscious gesture to feature Diana’s engagement ring.

“This gesture has been seen more than once during the current round of criticisms emanating from Scobie’s book and the gesture could hint at the idea that it’s Diana’s strength she is drawing on, especially as this visit is to a children’s hospital and some of the rituals of supportive and reassuring touches and hugs will be very similar to rituals that Diana once used during similar visits.”

At the event today, Kate flaunted her new hairstyle, which includes a curtain fringe. Judi noted: “Kate’s new hairstyle with the heavy side fringe does mean she gives the impression of hiding behind her hair a few times here but she seems aware of the problem and keen to deal with it, pushing her hair behind her ear on more than one occasion to ensure her face is visible to the cameras and to dispel any idea that she would prefer to hide away right now than appear in public.”

“This is Kate focusing not on the dramas but on her job and on the people she is meeting and most of her body language signals here seem to be performed for their benefit and not as a PR exercise aimed at shrugging off any problems via overkill smiles or fake jollity.”

“When she greets two small girls her body language shows a full immersive focus on them and an interest in the picture one girl is showing her.

“Watching the small girl growing in confidence as she chats to Kate shows how authentic Kate’s approach is as she spends a very long amount of time listening, encouraging and questioning the girl about her picture.”

“She is still focused on others as she steers the two girls to help her cut the ribbon and when she walks round the wards and comforts a mother at one of the bedsides the progression of the touch rituals and the expressions of concern that end with placing an arm around the woman’s shoulders again have a sense of authenticity because Kate turns her back to the cameras to make the moment more private.”

“Kate’s body language on this solo visit suggests she has no desire to make non-verbal ‘statements’ via her poses or expressions, rather that she would just prefer to get on with her job and focus on the happiness and welfare of the people she is meeting.”
