A crash on the M1 is causing severe delays of nearly an hour for rush-hour commuters. Live traffic cameras show queues stretching for miles since the incident which happened at about 7am today (April 8).

The collision happened between junctions 9 and 11 on the northbound carriageway with National Highways predicting the road will reopen by 8.45am. The nature of the crash, including how many vehicles were involved and whether there have been any injuries, is not yet known.

Delays are currently predicted to last for around 30 to 40 minutes, with only one lane closed. Live cameras show the road looking completely gridlocked as people head to work and school.
