The legendary British music group, separated for 15 years, posted the date of August 27 on their social networks, offering fans a reunion.
The return of an iconic group? Brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher, who have been estranged since 2009, hinted in a social media post that there could be an Oasis announcement on Tuesday, fueling speculation of a reunion of the legendary Britpop group.
The two brothers posted the same 11-second clip on social media on Sunday night into Monday with a single message: “27/08/24”. Thirty years on from the album 'Definitely Maybe' (released 29 August 1994) which launched the group, should we expect the announcement of Oasis reforming on Tuesday morning at 7am GMT?
Fans of the group have regularly fantasized about such a reunion for years, but rarely has it seemed as likely as it does today. Liam Gallagher, 51, dedicated Oasis' 'Half The World Away' to Noel, 57, during his gig at Reading festival in west London on Sunday night.
This possible return of the group made the front page of the Sunday Times on Sunday. “Noel and Liam Gallagher appear to have settled their differences and, if the truce holds, will play major concerts in London and Manchester's Heaton Park in 2025,” the newspaper wrote, citing music industry sources.
A return to Wembley?
The Sunday Times even reported a rumor that Wembley Stadium would be booked for ten matches. Liam Gallagher also wrote on X on Sunday morning that he “never liked the word OLD”. After years of feuding, a further altercation in the summer of 2009 between Liam Gallagher and his brother Noel, the guitarist and songwriter of Oasis, at the Parisian Rock en Seine festival, led to the split of the group formed in 1991 in Manchester.
Since then, the feuding brothers have long traded barbs via social media or the press, before a relative lull in recent times, giving fans hope for a reconciliation. In an interview last week, Noel complimented Liam, praising his “tone of voice and attitude”. After the smash hit of 'Definitely Maybe', Oasis reached the height of their popularity with '(What's the Story) Morning Glory?' released in 1995, which includes his hits like “Wonderwall” or “Don't Look Back in Anger”.
