A few days before the events ended, and while certain disciplines had rewarded their medalists, certain volunteers saw their experience in the capital come to a premature end.
There are 45,000 men and women making these Paris 2024 Games a success since July 26. But as reported 20 minutessome of the volunteers saw their missions shortened near the capital in this last week of the competition.
“On Monday evening, our online programs completely disappeared,” confesses one of the volunteers, a volunteer at the Beach Volleyball events. “I have a few hundred euros and I find myself here in Paris without going to the tests […]” continues the young man, who now has to adjust to renting the apartment and the return ticket.
“They treat us like this”
“We still spent a lot of money and free time to be here. It's still a shame that in such well-organized games, largely due to the good work of volunteers, we are treated like this,” added another speaker, who took advantage of the accreditation her to participate in the tests, she who is no longer on mission since the beginning of the week.
For its part, OCOG indicates that it is adapting “our operations during the Games according to real needs”. “As a result, some volunteers have been deployed to new missions or new locations. Other volunteers have been offered to fulfill their mission earlier,” adds the Paris 2024 Organizing Committee.
