Footage has been released of a Ukrainian drone strike on a Russian T-72 tank in the occupied Donetsk region of Ukraine.
The drone footage was shared by X account OSINTtechnical, which itself sourced the footage from the 33 ОМБР Telegram account, belonging to the 33rd Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian military.
The Telegram post, which has been translated directly from Ukrainian into English, read: “You tried, but you couldn’t.
“Another Russian tank rolled through the Ukrainian steppe for the last time. The pilots of our strike Vampires were able to set fire to the armor while in motion. And later and completely – they finally finished.
“Do you want to turn Russian equipment into scrap? Send it to us for collection (https://send.monobank.ua/jar/6NgXSske9r) – we can do it.”
The video of the drone bombing is split into two parts. The first appears to be taken from the drone itself. It shows a missile falling onto a moving Russian T-72, totally destroying it.
Then the video cuts to the aftermath. The tank is a smouldering wreck, rendered totally unusable. It is not clear how many Russian soldiers were inside the tank or how many casualties there were, however the liklihood of survival appears to be low.
Despite the video showing the destruction of Russian military hardware, morale in Ukraine is low.
Andriy Yermak, who is thought to be one of the most powerful figures in Ukraine’s government, admitted that Kyiv was struggling to call up more soldiers to fight Russia.
The stark admission from the chief of staff comes amid reports this week that Ukrainian frontlines are on the brink of collapse.
