To regulate the height of the crossbar of the goal cages, at the KFC Meise football pitch in Belgium, a municipal employee dug the pitch to reach the regulated height.

The dimensions of a football goal are regulated. 7.32 m wide and 2.44 m high. At the KFC Meise club in Belgium, the goal on one of the pitches did not reach the correct height. So, instead of raising the cage, a municipal employee preferred… to dig up the ground.

The worker dug a trench the entire length of the goal line to reach the desired height, as pictures from the Belgian daily show HLN.

Consequence: the ground is impassable for the 400 members of the club located in the Flemish Brabant region.

Time is running out though as the first home game of the season is scheduled for next Sunday.

Mayor Tom Heyvaert explains the incident as “an internal communication error”: “Adjustments to soccer goals are carried out by an external company that specializes in this field. But here, that didn't happen,” explains the newspaper. Nieuwsblad.
