On the opposition side, the collective La Voie est Libre, evokes the “fall of about ten meters” of two people taken care of and taken to the emergency room following the intervention.
“Slightly injured” according to the prefecture
A specialized law enforcement unit intervened on Friday morning on Zad de “la Cal'arbre”, in Saïx in Tarn, where opponents of the highway construction occupied trees located on this site, the last occupied by opponents. Three of them were evacuated on Friday morning, two of whom were “slightly injured during the intervention and quickly taken care of by firefighters”, the prefecture detailed.
Currently, one last opponent still occupies a tree on the site. “The clearing of this tree is not necessary for the continuation of the project and can be carried out later”, states the prefecture, which however asks “this adversary to leave this tree immediately” due to the fragility of the occupied tree which “threatens to collapse at any moment.”
On the first day of the clearing operation, August 30, a first opponent had already been evacuated “seriously injured with six spinal fractures”, according to the collective La Voie est Libre.
Gathering banned but planned for Sunday
On 1 September, around sixty trees had been felled along the A69 route, with “around ten trees” still to be felled to complete the clearing of the Tarn side of the site of the future Toulouse Motorway.
While the opponents announced a rally on Sunday on the website, the prefecture of Tarn banned any demonstration on the territory of the commune of Saïx until Monday.
Apart from the “Cal'arbre” area, there remains another blockage point in Tarn around a house located on the route, which the tenant and her family still refuse to leave.
