This Friday, a passenger plane crashed in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, with 62 people on board. The plane – which was flying from Cascavel in the state of Paraná to Guarulhos International Airport, a suburb of São Paulo – was carrying 58 passengers and 4 crew members, firefighters and the airline confirmed Voepass.

The causes of the accident are unknown

Local firefighters confirmed on X that the plane crashed in the city of Vinhedo (population 76,000), located about 80 km northwest of Sao Paulo. GloboNews released images showing a large area on fire and smoke coming from the plane's fuselage. Other images available on X show the device spiraling down.

The causes of the accident remain to be determined. No official report has yet been released on the crash of this ATR 72. Brazil's President Lula stated at an official event in Itajai (south) that “it appears” that “all” people have perished, but without being affirmative. A minute's silence was also observed.
