The 8th edition of ZEvent, the largest online charity event in France, ended on Sunday with a total prize fund of 10,145,881 euros for five associations fighting against poverty.
Launched with a concert at the Zénith in Montpellier on Thursday, September 5, the marathon organized by French streamer ZeratoR and his right-hand man Alexandre Dachary started on Friday at 18:00, broadcast on the Twitch platform. For over 50 hours, around thirty internet personalities took turns playing video games, taking quizzes and posing challenges.
The objective? Raise funds for five associations, including Secours Populaire, Bureaux du cœur and Solidarité Paysans, in collaboration with the Fondation de France. After a one-year hiatus, this edition brought together streamers like Kameto, Ladysundae and AVAMind, talk show host “Popcorn” Domingo and host Samuel Étienne. About 100 more people joined them online, reflecting the 100 most-watched streams of the past year, according to the organization.
Help from Antoine Griezmann and Léon Marchand
Comedian Laura Felpin and the Lebrun brothers, who shone at the Olympics in table tennishe also attended the event and joined in particular Samuel Etienne, the presenter of France 3, who has become one of the figures of Twitch in recent years.
Other personalities, such as Toulouse Léon Marchand, indirectly participated in this ZEvent. The swimmer, four-time Olympic champion at the last Olympic Games in Paris, offered 4,502 euros. In passing, he dethroned the player of the French team, Antoine Griezmann, who had decided to give 4500 euros a few hours earlier.
ZEvent averages between 500,000 and one million spectators. Since the first edition in 2016, then called the “Avengers Project”, this donation drive has raised over 31 million euros. It raised more than 10 million euros in the last three editions, in 2021 (10,064,480 euros), 2022 (10,182,126 euros, record) and 2024. According to ZeratoR, the money raised allowed, for example, the Sea Shepherd association to buy a new boat or finance the operation of a hospital in the Central African Republic.
