‘I made Mary Berry’s delicious chocolate brownies that are so easy to make’

As I’m hosting Easter at my place this weekend, I wanted to offer family and friends a little slice of chocolate heaven.

Looking for an easy-to-do chocolate brownie recipe, I knew I was onto a winner with Mary Berry’s bake.

For the bake, I got all my ingredients from my local Aldi shop – the most affordable supermarket in all of the UK, according to the latest report by Which?.

Already stocked with all the equipment I would need – except a very large mixing bowl (do get one of those) – I knew the brownies could be done in as little as 45 minutes.

Mary Berry said this recipe is her “favourite” when it comes to making chocolate brownies, and now it’s my favourite too.

Once weighed on the scales, place 360g of Aldi chocolate and 225g of butter in a (very) large heatproof bowl, such as Pyrex.

Place the bowl over a saucepan of simmering water (which bubbles gently) until melted. Stir to combine.

Remove from the heat and add 225g of Aldi Muscovado sugar and four already beaten eggs.

Mix well until smooth, then add 75g of Aldi self-raising flour and vanilla extract, then mix again. Stir in the chocolate chips.

Pour the chocolate mixture into the greased tray and bake for about 45 minutes, until well risen and set around the edges, with a slightly soft centre.

Once the chocolate brownies were made now it was time to taste test them – and what a delight that was.

The chocolate brownies were soft and moist, and most definitely moreish (I’ve had three already!).

I’m so impressed with the simplicity of the recipe and the stand-out results that I’m looking forward to sharing the brownies with loved ones.

There is a crunchy edge where there needs to be, but soft everywhere else, bringing the perfect balance of chewy and tasty – perfect with a mug of tea.
